Following his early career in software development he completed business strategy reviews in the automotive, banking, chemical, engineering, finance, government, manufacturing, petroleum and services sectors. He headed a leading systems integration company for several years as well as heading information technology consulting at a major accounting firm. Instrumental in seven technology start-up ventures, he achieved significant success with Australian software in the United States and Japanese markets. He undertook a diversity of strategic assignments for computer vendors including Fujitsu, Hitachi, IBM, NCR, NEC and Oracle as well as providing strategy assistance to a diversity of smaller technology companies. Prior to his current role with CommandHub, he was chief executive of a company responsible for corporate intranet strategy and business solutions for clients such as BHP Petroleum, Caltex Lubricants, Commonwealth Bank, EDS, Fujitsu, Honda, IBM, Texas Utilities and Toyota. Richard has been working with Internet technology since 1987 and has represented Australia in a number of international forums including participation in the US Government Working Group on Electronic Commerce. He has consulted on future technology directions to the banking, corporate and government sectors and is an accomplished speaker on management issues and technology trends at industry conferences and private seminars. A Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, he has served on the board of 20 companies with eight of those roles being as chairman. He has provided a mentoring role to the chief executive of a further 29 companies and was instrumental in the establishment of the first-ever spin-off company for the University of Sydney to commercialize innovative Internet technology. He also served as Chairman of the Internet Industry Association from 1995 to 1998 and was honoured in 2002 as the association's inaugural life member. Richard is currently chairman of CommandHub. The company’s core technology provides a highly secure web-based document distribution platform for sensitive material such as board papers, merger & acquisition documents and government papers. The company has a diversity of customers in the financial, government, resources and services sectors in Australia, Asia, Europe and the United States.
